ABOUT US

Flexible Schedule! Pick the days that work for you!

Blended Preschool and Pre-K classes are offered for children ages 3 to 5 (turned age 3 by September 1) on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 9:00am-12:00pm. Our flexible schedules helps families meet the unique needs of their preschoolers by picking a 2 day-per-week, 3 day-per-week, or 4 day-per-week schedule on the days that work best for them. When deciding on days for your child, consider whether they might benefit more from the consistency of consecutive classroom days or a more restful every-other-day routine.

A blended classroom also creates a unique learning environment where students can be both novice and mentor. Mixing with a more diverse peer group can boost self esteem, foster leadership skills, and help improve empathy.

Pre-K Extra Hour

First Pres Preschool offers an extended-day option for children entering Kindergarten the following year (for example, a child enrolled in our pre-K extension would start Kindergarten). During this extension time we engage in math and literacy focused activities and games. This extends your child’s time at our preschool to 1:00 pm on the days you choose that option. In line with our flexible scheduling, you may choose some or all days to include the Pre-K Extra Hour. The Pre-K Extra Hour will begin in the second week of January. Please contact us with any questions!

Curriculum

Discovery Time: A soft start so kids can transition into their day at their own pace. Children are allowed to choose their activities during this time, including engaging table-top games that relate to the weekly theme.

Morning Meeting: A time for us to gather, discuss our day, read stories, play group games, and practice our conversation skills.

Play-Based Learning: During this time, children participate in hands-on games and activities, themed art creating, and free play. Their play is their work!

Middle Circle: A time to regroup, read stories, pray and prepare for snack

Gross Motor: This is the time for gross motor development. First Pres Preschool has a dedicated and fenced outdoor playground and adjacent lawn that we enjoy daily after our snack time. With a climbing structure, sand box and mud kitchen, the children can enjoy the fresh air. We utilize the large lawn to play group games. In case of severe weather, we also have an indoor play space available with special toys for indoor enjoyment.

Closing Time: A space to review, read stories, share, and wrap up the day.

Other breaks from the daily schedule may include special guests, classroom parties, cooking days, and field trips!

Our Mission Statement

At First Pres Preschool we seek to love God, love children, and help children love God (a mirror of our church’s mission statement).

The mission of the FPC Preschool is to be a warm, loving, healthy, and safe Christian environment for the Bellingham community. As children of God we teach and model positive self-image, individuality, independence, and values of the community and mutual care. Our curriculum is academically rich and spiritually sound. Students will be offered the opportunity to grow and develop spiritually, cognitively, emotionally and physically through developmentally appropriate play-based learning.

Our goal is that every child will feel successful and know that they are a beloved child of God. Jesus is the thread that weaves our day together as we explore reading, math, science, and social studies while learning to love God and each other.
