March 15th Service will be Streaming Only

FPC leadership has wrestled and pondered the question of holding services on Sunday given the most recent recommendation from the Whatcom County Department of Health, the encouragement of our Presbytery to follow that recommendation, and the challenge of what love looks like in this season. Pastoral staff posed the question to Session, and together we have voiced and listened to several perspectives. On one hand, we all want to care for our most vulnerable populations, and social gatherings are the most problematic element to the spreading of the virus. On the other, worship is an essential element of practicing our faith, and doing that corporately is both a discipline and a gift.

The Session in full unity has come to consensus to cancel our Sunday Worship gathering for THIS Sunday and make it available on line. Please join us on Sunday at FPC Live-   The worship will start at 9:50, and be livestreamed then, but will be available later as well.

This season of navigating best practices can be hard, but it can also be a time to creatively consider what it means to be a community reflecting Christ – we encourage you to maintain connection with one another by phone, mail, email or other means to support one another and offer help where needed (grocery pick-up, helping with kids, etc.) The church has a Zoom account and we are glad to set up a small group Zoom Session for you to meet together remotely, contact Becca. Let’s seek the peace of the city together – making wise decisions as recommended by health officials to serve our most vulnerable populations. Let us hold fast to our faith in God, who is bigger than any pandemic and will see us through.

In Him,
