What is The Garden?
The Garden is a community of young adults that is growing the kingdom of God through creating “agenda-free” spaces for community and serving the world with no strings attached while seeking Jesus together. The spiritual landscape of college-aged young adults has changed dramatically and rapidly—waiting for or even inviting them to faith & community is less effective than ever before. The Garden seeks to bring the kingdom to students through seemingly small but intentional acts of friendship and service, while inviting God to bring the significance and meaning.
We gather weekly for a meal together and to be encouraged in prayer, community, and scripture. Once per month we unite in worship, and 1-2 times per month we work together on a collective service or community-building project. We are led by three part-time staff, and are primarily funded by First Presbyterian Church.
From Genesis to Revelation and all between, God uses the literal and metaphorical picture of a garden as his desired state of creation: a fully-overlapped and intertwined heaven and earth. As we seek to live in and grow his kingdom, we hope to see a continually growing overlap of heaven and earth in our world — to become more like the picture of the garden we are given in scripture.
How can I be a part of it?
Joining the mission of the Garden is simple. Here are some places to start for those who are able:
Pray that the Lord would bring his kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven through the Garden
Provide a meal on a Tuesday night for approx. 30-40 students (we can help with food costs)
Financially fund the missional work of The Garden (all of your support is invested in to community
building and serving)
Check out our website for info on how to do any or all of these things.
We thank you for your prayers and encouragement as we seek the kingdom together!
