Deacon Ministry Opportunities

As part of the Deacon ministry of bringing compassion, care, and prayer to our church family, we invite you to take part in various projects.

On-Going Deacon Needs

Prayer Shawls
This exciting project blesses young and old alike.  If you knit or crochet, we could use your help making prayer shawls for FPC members and others who are lonely, sick, or hurting, to let them know that they are loving, thought of and prayed for daily.

Handmade Baby Items
With all the babies that have recently arrived, and with those on the way, we need more handmade baby items.  These sweaters, booties, etc. are given to every new baby along with a children’s Bible.

Bake Cookies
Contact:
Tracy Johnson at 714.8839 or tracyj@fpcbellingham.org
Our Deacons assist families with memorial service receptions when loved ones pass away by serving homemade cookies and coffee to the attendees.  In order to be sure we will have enough cookies even at short notice, we keep a list of “cookie bakers” who are willing to make a dozen or so cookies when needed.

Drive Elderly Congregants to Sunday Morning Worship
Contact: John Harter or Vern Sheets
Would you be able to pick up one of our elderly congregants who are no longer able to drive and bring them to church on Sunday mornings?  We are in need of people who we can connect with these church members so that they are still able to come to church on a regular basis.

Make a Meal
Contact:
Tracy Johnson at 714.8839 or tracyj@fpcbellingham.org
We love to help families who are welcoming new babies by preparing a few meals for them as they transition back at home with their new little one.  Contact us if you would like to be on a list for the Deacons to contact when meals are needed.
