Joanne Kestermont

Administrative Assistant II

Joanne was born in Bellingham but moved to Alaska when she was only 4. She attended Ketchikan schools through her junior year but graduated from Dimond High in Anchorage, Alaska in 1968. She attended college in Missouri, Illinois, and Washington over the years.

She worked as a Hotel Manager for several years specializing in turning around poorly performing properties, increasing occupancy, quality of service, and profitability. Due to the nature of her work she has lived in many different areas of the country, but never for more than a couple years at a time.

She quit working in 2007 and moved to Sedro Woolley to live with for her mother who was suffering from dementia and could no longer live alone.

When her mother died in 2012 she moved back to Bellingham with her partner of 30 plus years, her two dogs, and her mother’s dog. She spends most of her time walking with her dogs, reading, and baking. She loves to bake and often brings goodies in to share with her coworkers.
